ResVerse: Resveratrol and Acai = Scam

September 10, 2009

Nowadays it’s possible to combine everything. Manufacturers combine green tea and hoodia, caffeine and maqui berry extracts, omega 3 dha and monavie, mangosteen and noni or acai and resveratrol.

For me, Acai and Resveratrol are two very good choices. They stand out from the crowd due to their great ORAC values and the massive amount of anti-oxidants.

On our “mission” to conquer free radicals acai and resveratrol can help us naturally and risk-free.

The Real Age Test of Dr. Oz

August 19, 2009

Many people have health issues nowadays. If you can add more fiber to your diet to keep your blood sugar levels balanced it can significantly help you to stay healthy and lower your real age.

Smoothies can be a great addition to any diet to get your daily intake of vitamins and fiber.

On the site www.realage.com Dr. Oz and Dr. Roizen put together a site with a lot more diet tips and the real age test.

There is no so called secret to weight loss, it’s actually quite simple if you eat the right things.

Stress can also be a major factor, both for aging and weight gain. If you can avoid stress that’s a big plus and will help you to stay young.

Is the ‘Dr. Oz Calorie Restriction Diet’ really worth it?

August 15, 2009

Calorie-restriction refers to a lifestyle where people eat less calories than they normally should to live longer. It is a strict diet that only few people actually can do.

The Dr. Oz diet includes a lot of raw foods, fruits, veggies and nuts. When done correctly, you can slower the aging process and add many years to your life. Zed put it this way: When you are on a calorie-restriction diet your body gets really efficient and your body activates a gene called sirtris. This gene can help you to live longer.

To lose a lot of weight, fasting and raw food might be great, but would you want to live like that forever? Actually, I believe this diet won’t work for the majority of all Americans and it would be a pretty expensive diet too. Eating only organic foods can be costly.

Luckily, science can help us. Resveratrol, a natural compound found in red wine, also activates the gene sirtris. Why would you stay on a calorie-restrictive diet if you can take Resveratrol? In certain tests it helped animals to live up to 56% longer. That’s not everything, it also has a lot of other health benefits: It can increase your energy and metabolism, improve your mood and endurance and help you to lose weight. Resveratrol is *the* wonder pill of 2009. Actually, it has been discovered years ago. I even read an article about it back in 1998! It only became so popular when David Sinclair promoted his discovery on TV (CBS, 60 minutes, etc). Sinclair’s company has been bought for $720 million. Do you think anyone would spend that much money if Resveratrol wasn’t a really important discovery? Resveratrol might change our future!

Meditation and Yoga can help you to live longer !

August 12, 2009

According to Dr. Oz Meditation and Yoga can help you to add a couple years to your lifespan.

Meditation can stimulate your sinuses to release gases that will help your body to relax. That’s why a very effective treatment for sinusitis is humming. It will dilate your blood vessels effectively and as good as antibiotics. The gas that is produced is called nitric oxide. Inflammation causes an increase of nitric oxide as well and is your natural answer to sinusitis.

On this website: http://www.yogabasics.com/yoga-postures.html you will find many meditation yoga poses that will allow you to meditate effectively.

Can Sleep & Sex keep us young? Anti-Aging Checklist

August 12, 2009

Dr. Oz believes that an active sex life can keep us young. Sex creates chemicals as we all know, men have increased testosterone values and women have increased oxytocin.

Those chemicals keep us going and make us stay young. Therefore it is recommended that lack of sex and sleep should be avoided.

Sleep plays a critical role too. To keep our vitality sleep is very essential, because that’s simply how we recharge our energy. Lack of sleep can make you age dramatically faster.

On Wikipedia I found an interesting statement that two things should be fulfilled when you sleep:

The optimal amount of sleep is not a meaningful concept unless the timing of that sleep is seen in relation to an individual’s circadian rhythms. A person’s major sleep episode is relatively inefficient and inadequate when it occurs at the “wrong” time of day; one should be asleep at least six hours before the lowest body temperature. The timing is correct when the following two circadian markers occur after the middle of the sleep episode and before awakening.

  • maximum concentration of the hormone melatonin, and
  • minimum core body temperature.

Dr. Oz also recommended to floss your teeth before going to bed.  He says that it might cause gingivitis and irritation of the gums if you don’t. Oral health can also prevent cardio-vascular related diseases.

Dr. Oz’s Extreme Life Extension – Anti-Aging Checklist

August 11, 2009

We all age. It’s life.  To be exact our cells age. How could you possibly slower that process?

A harvard study about the French Paradox revealed a compound called “Resveratrol” that has been found in red wine, chocolate and other foods and even plants, that can help us stop the aging process of our cells. Resveratrol is activating a gene called sirtris.

Trivia: The people that discovered resveratrol called their company “sirtris”. By now it has been bought by GlaxoSmith Kline for about 720 million US-dollar. A nice sum for one of the most important discoveries since antibiotics.

Dr. Oz says if you don’t want to drink red wine to get your daily dose of resveratrol, you should get it from other sources like Concord grape juice or other dark grape juices.

However, Dr. Oz got some facts messed up. According to the harvard study you would have to drink 1000 bottles of wine per day to benefit from the resveratrol in it. Unthinkable. Instead you can get resveratrol pills. Resveratrol is being extracted from japanese knotweed. They usually sell small pills between 100 mg and 500 mg of trans-resveratrol.

For the average American coffee is the main source of anti-oxidants. Dr. Oz recommends to drink green tea instead.

Sidenote: Coffee has a lot benefits too. Caffeine is being used to treat Alzheimer for example.

Aside from green tea, there is white tea. It is extracted of the same plant as green tea, but in a different way.
