Best Tasting Healthy Foods

It can be hard to find the best tasting healthy foods. For most people, “good tasting” and “healthy” make about as much sense together in a sentence as “cold” and “heat”, but that’s not always true.

When asked to picture healthy food, chances are you envision bland vegetables, tasteless meats, and kale (whatever that is!). Yet even while “tasty” is a largely subjective adjective, its placement next to “healthy” does not necessarily result in an oxymoron. Rather, there are plenty of healthy foods that you can wholeheartedly enjoy without having to change your own personal definition of “delicious”.

The first trick to eating healthy without sacrificing taste is to embrace mother nature. No, you don’t need to become a vegan or vegetarian, but you should learn to appreciate fruits and vegetables. The second rule of thumb is to eat everything in moderation. The third and final rule is balance. Ultimately, eating healthy means that you ingest a variety of required vitamins, minerals, proteins, fats, and carbohydrates.

Healthy Peanut Butter

Believe it or not, peanut butter can actually be extremely healthy. When you purchase the all-natural kind rather than the type that is saturated in high-fructose corn syrup, you are getting a great tasting combination of good fats, protein, and fiber.

Some all-natural peanut butter companies add Omega-3 fatty acids such as ALA, DHA, or EPA (usually ALA from Flaxseed Oil) to their products, making them even healthier.

Reduced fat or no sugar added ice cream is another great tasting food that you can eat without much guilt. Companies are learning how to make the most out of the surface area of the sugar and salt molecules, providing maximum flavor with minimal calories.

Healthy Delicious Fruits and Vegetables

Before complex synthetic sugar molecules were developed, dessert consisted of fruits and berries. Even today, strawberries, honeydew, grapes, and oranges are integrated into even the most insane calorie-bomb cakes and pastries. This is because, whether or not you’ve had your fill of them, fruits and berries are delicious.

Few things are as refreshing and nutritious as watermelon on a warm summer’s day. Likewise for strawberries (lightly) dusted in sugar. There’s an unadvertised bonus here too. While you are indulging in fruits and berries, you are also getting crucial vitamins in the process. Some of the best tasting healthy foods are fruits and vegetables.

Healthy Meats

What if we told you that for a small premium, you can purchase meats that are not only better for you, but taste significantly better too? Grass-fed beef tastes completely different than its grain-fed counterpart, and it contains less saturated fat and more Omega-3 fatty acids.

In fact, before grain feed was used, grass-fed livestock was how most humans got their fill of DHA and EPA.
Free-range chicken and cage-free eggs taste better and they are considerably healthier. Milk and dairy products from grass-fed animals taste worlds away from their grain-fed cousins.

Lastly there are the substitutes. Substituting turkey sausage and turkey bacon for pork products can constitute a drastically healthy change in your diet. While this might not be an option for the die-hard pork fans, many people may find that the turkey versions are actually tastier.

Finally, when cooking or baking, using reduced fat cheese will hardly cause a difference in the final taste of your product. In some cases, the best tasting healthy foods are substitutes.
