Few people walking this planet wouldn’t mind shedding a pound or two. Unfortunately, the vast majority of people feel that this is an unattainable goal that requires months of sacrifice and hard work. While this is true for losing large amounts of mass, it is actually quite easy to lose weight gradually through just a few simple lifestyle changes.
This means tweaking a few things on your daily schedule or diet that, over the course of a few weeks or months, will actually help you shed tens of thousands of calories and burn multiple pounds of fat. Some are more drastic than others, and you hardly need to adopt all of them to see positive changes (though the more the better).
Changes in Diet to Lose Weight
The first way to lose weight is to drink water. If h20 is already your primary source of hydration, you are far ahead of the curve. The more you drink, the better hydrated you will be and the better equipped your body will be to jettison toxins and excess weight. If you are like the millions of Americans who drink sodas or other sugar laden drinks on a daily basis, changing to water might just be the single healthiest thing you’ll ever do.
Sodas are loaded with refined sugars and each one can easily be a hundred calories. Diet sodas are no better; aside from being unhealthy on a chemical level, they may lead to calorie binging on your next meal. Sodas are also horrible at hydrating you, something that you will need to function at an optimal level.
Avoid saturated fats. While overall fat content plays a role in how much mass your body accumulates, saturated fat is the main culprit. Saturated fat not only causes you to put on weight, but is also responsible for heart disease and high cholesterol levels.
Some fats, such as polyunsaturated and monounsaturated, are actually good for you and your body absolutely requires them. Saturated fats and trans-fats, on the other hand, you can go without.
Supplement with Omega-3 fatty acids, particularly DHA and EPA. These do a number of important things, and very few people get nearly enough of them on a daily basis. Your skin health and brain function will improve, and they will assist you in losing weight faster.
Changes in Exercise to Lose Weight
In order to effectively lose weight, you will need to exercise on a semi regular basis. Yet contrary to popular belief, this does not mean daily trips to the gym or becoming a slave to your treadmill. Rather, there are a number of simple ways to burn an extra couple hundred calories every day.
Instead of taking the elevator you should take the stairs. You will probably save time and burn a few dozen calories at the same time. Take a leisurely walk when you can. Cardiovascular exercise does not need to be at a high or even medium intensity to be effective. If you can even perform mild exercise in the morning when you wake up, your metabolism will be sped up for the whole day.
