Do Play With Your Food

Manners and home training aren’t to be thrown out the window here, of course. Let’s keep everything in context. Just remember that your food can be used to beautify your skin – by just smearing it all over your face. Sounds hokey, I know, but many people swear by it and have seen great results.

Fruits, in particular, are full of antioxidants, nutrients and lovely scents that can help exfoliate, revitalize, smooth, tone and even lighten your skin. In fact, fruit acids are commonly used in cosmetic skin products; they sound a bit more scientific though – alphahydroxy acids, or AHAs. AHAs are known for their ability to cleanse, exfoliate and firm the skin, giving it a youthful, radiant glow. Here are a few other ways you can use your food to create luxurious skin naturally:

Honey and Nutmeg Mask – A concoction of honey and nutmeg (one tablespoon of honey and a half teaspoon of nutmeg) is apparently able to get rid of wrinkles and prevent new ones from forming. You simply mix your ingredients well, smooth it onto your entire face and let it set for about 20 minutes.

The honey produces moisture in the skin after the gritty nutmeg has had a chance to exfoliate any dry, dead skin. You can gently massage your face thereafter to get your blood flowing and then rinse it all off with warm water.

Milk and Dairy – If its sun damage you want to try and repair naturally, milk and dairy products can do the trick. Dairy products are full of fat, which can fatten up cells and give them extra moisture that the sun has stripped away, when applied topically.

Dairy also has cooling properties that help take the sting out of sunburn. All you would need to do is take some buttermilk, plain cottage cheese or plain yogurt and again smear it all over your face (or wherever there is sun damage) and let it stand for 20 minutes. After rinsing with warm water, the result is a healthier, glowing appearance.

Avocado Facial – Just like dairy, avocado is naturally full of fat that can serve as a great emollient and lubricant for your skin. The heavy vitamin content also provides antioxidants that go to work repairing damaged skin cells. Just apply the pulp of the avocado directly to your face and leave it on for about 20 minutes before rinsing off in warm water.

Apparently, the pulp on the rind is most concentrated with vitamins, so especially go after that pulp when doing your avocado facial.  Smooth, moisturized skin like this will make wrinkles unnoticeable or disappear.
